The Number Portability Administration Center (NPAC) contains number porting data from thousands of service providers covering the ported telephone numbers for millions of businesses and subscribers in the United States. Given the sensitive nature of this data, not everyone is able to access the NPAC. Authorized users are limited to service providers, service bureaus and providers of telecom-related services (PTRS) including rating, routing, billing and network maintenance.
Local Number Portability (LNP) or Mobile Number Portability (MNP) enables users to keep their phone number when switching service providers.
